Apple's Mac Mini packs a big punch in a tiny box. It's the perfect solution for the homeowner who wants to integrate a computer into a entertainment system or for the small office that is switching from PC to Mac.
Apple says its Mac Mini is the perfect computer for the "green" conscious consumer. It's also perfect for many other situations. Using the included Front Row software, many users integrate the Mini into their home entertainment systems as a way to push online movies and TV through new widescreen plasma and LCD televisions. Other users, perhaps switching from PC to Mac (the niche the Mini was originally aimed at) use the Mini in conjuction with the monitors, keyboards, and mice they already own.
According to Apple, "Now there’s even more power inside such a small space. With Intel Core 2 Duo processor speeds starting at 2.0GHz, blazing fast comes standard." Included with "blazing fast," comes Apple's exclusive iLife suite of applications that includes Garageband, iMovie, iWeb, and iPhoto. Users will also find the excellent and ubiquitous iTunes software already installed and ready for use in archive movies and music, either captured with DVR technology (an add on available from several manufacturers) or purchased from the iTunes store online.
A small form factor, impressive flexibility for a multitude of tasks, and the power of Intel multicore processing makes the Mac Mini an attractive option for many buyers, available at two price points from Apple ($599 and $799).
